Race Day FAQ

What time do the races start and end?
Races normally start with 6:30 PM hot laps and 7 PM racing. Races end between 10:15 and 11:15 PM on the average Friday night. Start times for specials vary — see the schedule for Northern Nationals times.
Where can I purchase tickets?
At the gate, or on the MyRacePass app.
Is camping available?
Yes — buy on MyRacePass for the Great Lakes Border Battle, XR Super Series, Twin Ports Twin 25s, Northern Nationals and the Can Am Clash. Any other race night, park your camper or RV and see Jodi in the concession stand to pay and get your camping certificate.
What food do you sell at the track?
Jo Jo's Grab & Go — Home of the Friday Night Special — has a stand at the main grandstand, one in the pits and one on the backstretch. Jodi makes her homemade Friday Night Special dinner (with dessert!) every week. About 35–40 servings, and people line up at 5 PM for it. Some of the best racing food at any track — check out their Facebook page.
What accommodations do you have for handicap access?
Handicap parking, plus a ramp in the first section of grandstands with a deck where wheelchairs and other devices can park and watch the races.
What are the seating options?
General admission, with annual reserved seating available — see Jodi in the concession stand for details.
How do I get a backstretch spot?
These are season-long spots reserved year after year by the same people. Once in a while someone drops their spot, but there are 36 people on the waiting list — only one spot has opened since 2019, so it's a long wait.
Should I bring anything specific?
Always bring a light jacket — the wind can switch off our beautiful Lake Superior and the temperature can drop 20 degrees in minutes.
What items are not allowed?
No outside beverages or food.

Grandstand Info

Covered grandstand seating is available on the front stretch. The backstretch has open-air seating available (season-reserved — see the FAQ above).

Rain Policy

If an event is rained out prior to intermission (heat race conclusion), the event is a complete rain out. All admission bands (grandstands and pits) are good for one admission to one of the next two weeks' events. If there's a pricing difference, just pay the difference between the rained-out event and the one you attend.

You must have your wristband to exchange at entry to the next event. No refunds are given on the night of a rained-out event.

Camping

Northern Nationals three-day camping (September 10–12): $75 electric, $50 non-electric — on sale now at glscamping.com.

Regular race nights: park your camper and see Jodi in the concession stand for a camping certificate.
